The heavy industry sector plays a crucial role in the European economy, providing employment opportunities across various skilled trades. Salaries for professionals in this field vary significantly by country, with notable differences between Eastern and Western Europe. Below is a comparative analysis of wages for key roles such as electricians, locksmiths, CNC machine operators, and varnishers in different European nations.

Electricians

Electricians in Poland earn between 1,119 and 1,522 EUR, significantly lower than their counterparts in Western Europe. In Germany, salaries range from 3,500 to 4,500 EUR, while in the Netherlands and France, electricians make between 2,800–3,200 EUR and 3,000–3,500 EUR, respectively. Austria offers wages between 3,100–3,600 EUR, with slightly higher earnings in Norway (3,700–4,200 EUR). Switzerland provides the highest pay, ranging from 5,200 to 5,500 EUR, followed by Belgium with 4,200–4,400 EUR.

Locksmiths

Locksmith salaries show a similar disparity. In Poland, earnings range from 895 to 1,298 EUR, while in Germany, they climb to 3,000–3,500 EUR. The Netherlands and France offer salaries of 3,200–3,500 EUR and 2,800–3,200 EUR, respectively. Austria follows closely with 3,000–3,500 EUR, while Norway offers a higher range of 3,800–4,200 EUR. Swiss locksmiths receive between 5,000 and 5,300 EUR, and Belgian professionals earn 3,300–3,500 EUR.

CNC Machine Operators

In Poland, CNC machine operators earn between 1,030 and 1,343 EUR, whereas their German counterparts earn 3,000–3,500 EUR. In the Netherlands, wages range from 3,200 to 3,500 EUR, while in France, salaries are slightly lower at 3,000–3,200 EUR. Austria offers between 2,800 and 3,200 EUR, while Norway provides a significantly higher range of 3,800–4,200 EUR. Switzerland tops the list with 5,000–5,500 EUR, while Belgium offers 3,800–4,000 EUR.

Varnishers

Varnishers in Poland earn 895 to 1,410 EUR, while in Germany, the salary range is 3,000–3,500 EUR. The Netherlands offers 2,800–3,200 EUR, whereas in France, earnings range from 3,800 to 4,200 EUR. Austria pays varnishers between 2,700 and 3,000 EUR, while Norway offers 3,900–4,200 EUR. Switzerland leads with 5,200–5,700 EUR, followed by Belgium at 3,800–4,000 EUR.

The salary disparity between Eastern and Western Europe is evident, with countries like Switzerland, Norway, and Germany offering significantly higher wages than Poland. While skilled workers in Poland earn considerably less, these differences may be influenced by cost of living, demand for labor, and local economic factors. For professionals considering relocation within Europe, countries like Switzerland and Norway provide the most lucrative opportunities in the heavy industry sector.
